The purpose of this page is to persuade Microsoft to continue to make and support "the duke" controller. The duke is the original controller that came with the XBox, as opposed to what Microsoft is now releasing with their system: the "S Controller". While there have been no documented plans to eliminate the duke altogether, it is a concern that many duke-loves have.
The love for the duke goes way beyond the simple "oh you're just used to it because it was first" ideal. Many gamers cannot stand the new button layout of the s-controllers, nor do they want to feel like their hands are ungodly big monstrosities. People with large hands like the duke because it makes them feel more at home than possibly any other controller that has ever been created. All the buttons that one uses are within easy reach, and the "back" and "start" buttons are in the customary, well desired region in the middle of the controller. The placement of these buttons has been a long-standing tradition that should not be broken. Anything to the contrary is going against decades of conditioning.
Another argument that people like to bring up - and usually in a whiny voice - is that the black and white buttons are way up at the top of the controller and difficult to reach. For those sissy-handed people, it is very clear that many games do not even use those buttons, and the few who do use them in a tertiary status. They are put there for a reason, and far be it from you or I to question that reason.
Studies have shown that only little girls use the s-controller, and duke users are more virile, more intelligent, and more able to kick your ass at Halo anytime that work and/or school permits. Who wants to say they use the s-controller anyway? There aren't any cool nicknames for it yet, and you can't just mesh the name together because then you are left with "scontroller".
Recently, little Timmy Albany of Burlington, Iowa, was able to fend of a pack of ravenous dogs by swinging his duke around his head, creating a dull whirring sound that frightened the animals away. The duke saves lives. Try it, spin your scontroller around your head... all you get is a stupid "fllapbtb" sound.
Save yourself the trouble, just use and support the duke. Your parents would be so proud. If you're not playing with your duke, your just playing with yourself.
